Beginnings
A short read about the initial ideas of The Theatre.

The Theatre initially started as a community idea, getting people together to share their characters in one place to build a world around. However the idea never really got off the ground, and instead turned into a personal playground to build my own world.
Over the years The Theatre became a central theme of several of my projects, and was heavily fleshed out around 2021 with a history and recurring characters. The first attempt at sharing with the world was in the form of a webcomic that ran for a few months, although I underestimated the amount of work for that.
At the same time that the webcomic was being developed, The Theatre also became the focus for a staff management choose-your-own-adventure style video game. A mini-game was drafted for the video game that eventually blossomed into a full fledged card game itself - and that became the initial idea behind The Theatre TCG.
As projects came and went with time, the card game remained as my favorite project to work on (and one I could actually get results with). While it's been a long walk, I've committed resources to actually developing the game into a real-life TCG that can be played in person.
While The Theatre's first set is actively being developed, I intend to work on several venues for players. The initial playtest version of a TTS (Tabletop Simulator) mod is for alpha playtesting, allowing users to view the rules, build decks, and play around with a limited set of the cards. These rules are still being tweaked but they seem to be in a nearly stable state, with most issues being around balancing.
After some more art gets completed I intend to release a print-and-play version that will let people get their hands on the game without needing Steam and TTS.
There will be more information coming shortly about updates to art, rules, and playtesting options, so be sure to check back for more info soon!
